Computing technologies are transforming our lives, and especially the ways that we communicate.? In the field of history, the Web and other technologies have become important tools in how we research and teach the past. Yet the use of these tools is limited-many historians and history educators have resisted adopting them because they do not understand how we should best use technology, and why technology is better than conventional tools (such as books).? In Pastplay (forthcoming from University of Michigan Press), a collection of essays by leading history and humanities researchers and teachers, we address these concerns head-on.
